The specially-designed museums and theatres will cluster in the West Kowloon Cultural District. They are to rescue the metropolitan from the monotone.
I remembered that when I was in Shanghai, I visited the Wukang Road where a number of classical buildings locate. Apart from the historical and cultural value of the buildings, their unique old-school appearances also bring colours to the city and attracts tourists. Below shows some of the features of Wukang Road.
No.393 Wukang Road. Xuhui Historical Building Art Centre
a is the former residence of Huang Xing, a well-known revolutionist. Now it acts as a tourist information centre introducing the old buildings in Shanghai to the tourists. The Centre houses some models of the old buildings to let visitors have a glimpse of their architectural desgins.
No.210 Wukang Road. Romeo’s Balcony.
South to Wukang Road. Normandy Apartment Building. (Source: http://www.shanghaipathways.com/content/wukang-road-exploration)
Normandy Apartment Building. There is a continuous classical arcade on the ground level which is in the Romanesque architectural style.
While the West Kowloon Cultural District is different in the sense that its buildings are modern, I believe that the WKCD will similarly stand out and the assembly of structures of creative and artistic designs will be a big selling point attracting people who appreciate architectures.
