Working with nature and open space21.7.2016 | lifestyle.
Gillian NganProject Control - Summer Intern
One thing that I have really enjoyed in my first month as an intern is the fact that I am working right next to nature and an open green space. Sometimes after lunch in the office, other interns and I will grab a bike and have a ride along the promenade enjoying the sunshine and sea breeze. Working here is not only about looking at the computer all day but also about experiencing the environment and discovering more from it.
Having so much fun! (Someone is falling off! Ha ha!)
The comfortable and informal work environment at WKCDA also makes me feel really relaxed and makes it easy to fit in. My mentor and other project managers always share their knowledge and opinions on the development or on individual projects. Through the work I am given to do, I learnt a lot about the terms, working procedures and communication in a project. As an architecture student, this understanding is really helpful as it is not covered in our study.
Chilling at the monthly casual gathering
The most exciting part of our work is visiting the site. Being able to step onto a site at different stages of development helps me to understand more thoroughly how the construction process works and how different people contribute their own part. It is exciting to witness the roughness of the site and imagine what the surroundings will ultimately turn into.
